Your intuitive child has likely been different since birth. S/he seems to respond to things and to life differently than most other kids. Highly perceptive, very emotional, and sometimes too aware and knowing for his/her age. Your little may bring up topics or reference things that are confusing, perhaps a bit scary, and you may not even know what to say in those moments. S/he likely gets overwhelmed a lot and may seem to know things that is impossible to explain. I wager you struggle between wanting to support and encourage your child and your desire to protect him/her. You might feel afraid to reference these things with family or friends as you anticipate weird looks or dismissive comments. You likely have experiences and gifts of your own, or perhaps, this is completely new territory for you. Either way, you are seeking answers, understanding and guidance.
You want to understand your intuitive child and help him/her understand this too. You want to feel like you have tools to support your child, protect him/her from the things that are too heavy, and still prepare him/her for the harsh reality of life. Empathic and Intuitive children often have gifts that can be hard to understand. They may even overwhelm the child and even the parent. There is both a beauty and a responsibility that comes with those gifts. Your child likely does not seem to ‘conform’ and honestly, they were not meant to. I can help you learn how to best support your child, the unique struggles s/he faces, and lessen the stress and angst that often accompanies these gifts. This work may include specific tools to help your child regulate his/her overall mood and stress levels, suggestions on practical and helpful calming techniques for emotional flooding, understanding how to support your child with his/her abilities, promote meaningful communication between you and your child, as well as answering questions and managing your fears as the parent.
