Introduction

Transcend Wellness Center adopts a holistic approach to psychotherapy, wellness coaching, couples counseling, child and teen counseling, and family therapy.  Based on a strengths model, it focuses on improving your ability to manage depression, anxiety and panic, anger and mood regulation, navigate affairs and infidelity issues, rebuild trust and intimacy, and overcome past abuse and trauma.  Transcend Wellness acknowledges that positive change can be generated by a variety of methods and from multiple sources of strength. Our personal, professional and spiritual lives intertwine in a manner that is unique to each of us.  Transcend Wellness also recognizes that during significant life transitions, or life cycle stages, we often experience dramatic increases in stress, doubt, and fear. Some of us are able to navigate these obstacles independently and with relative ease. Many people may seek out assistance, benefiting from the guidance, support, and encouragement of others. Most of us experience both at some point in our lives.

We tend to approach life with a 'script', an established self-narrative and world view, which influences how we perceive ourselves and how we react to events and persons around us. These scripts are based on past experiences and are often such an integral part of our being, we are unaware of them and/or their influence on us. Thus, we may be blinded to unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving--not recognizing how limiting and disruptive these patterns may be. Despite our greatest efforts, we may find ourselves 'stuck' and uncertain of how to move forward.  However, when we exhibit a willingness to engage in self-exploration, and the courage to try new ways of relating, thinking, and behaving, we have the capacity to rewrite these oppressive scripts into stories of personal success and growth.

Most of us intuitively recognize the connection between the mind, body, and spirit. They are so strongly interrelated that when one begins to decline, the others frequently follow. For example, a person who struggles with chronic pain or illness commonly battles feelings of frustration, sadness, and hopelessness. Someone who endures severe daily stressors  may complain of frequent headaches, ulcers, high blood pressure, and disturbed sleep. These type of symptoms may ultimately begin to drain us of our energy and willingness to engage with others. They may impede our ability to fulfill the multiple roles we all lead: parent, spouse, employee, and friend.  We may begin to feel empty, lethargic, and discouraged in our pursuits.

Transcend Wellness Center offers client-centered services that supports you in identifying areas of both success and limitation, as well as developing specific strategies to faciliate your desired change. It promotes creativity and the practice of new behaviors.  It challenges distorted thinking and self-defeating behaviors, but always in a respectful and understanding manner.   Transcend Wellness' main focus is you as a whole person, not on assigning you clinical labels or prescribing you medications.   It does not subscribe to a 'one size fits all' philosophy; thus, services are tailored to meet your specific needs. Transcend Wellness facilitates insight, coaches acceptance and mindfulness, encourages growth and navigation of life transitions, and empowers you to achieve an authentic lifestyle.
